For the month of September, Club des Lecteurs will be reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, winner of the 1989 Booker Prize. Ishiguro, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017, wrote the novel at a pivotal point in his career, after the success of A Pale View of Hills and An Artist of the Floating World. Published in 1989, it was the novel that established him as one of the leading British novelists of his generation.
